Insight Technology
Insight Technology 2/14/2012 10:49:05 PM Insight Technology must see some value in courting civilian sales. There’s a 5 MB catalog out there containing civilian legal products. http://www.insighttechgear.com/2010commercial.pdf There is something to be said about not keeping all your eggs in one basket and when it comes to the Govt, nothing, and I mean nothing is certain. Contracts are canceled with the stroke of a pen. Somehow, diversification just doesn’t quite say it. Off the top of my head, look at the M1 Abrams. Chrysler spent years of R&D on that tank and after producing about 1000, the Govt. saw a better deal with General Dynamics producing them. GD bought out Chrysler Defense, or more accurately, they were forced to sell to GD and production was moved from Detroit to Lima, OH. leaving more idle real estate and idle former employees in Detroit. So what then happens? Within a year Chrysler needs a Govt. bailout to avoid bankruptcy. How much of a role did the loss of Chrysler Defense play? Who knows? But it sure didn’t help. LDI has already taken the inititave and stepped up to fll the void of Class I civilian legal IR. And LDI is already getting it’s own Govt. contracts in a market which was formerly almost exclusive to Insight Technology Technology. So, they’re already facing competition in the Govt. sector. A good business decision by Insight Technology would dictate that maybe they should tap into the Class I civilian legal IR market too. But then, we’re takling about good business decisions which aren’t exactly commonplace in this country lately. FREEFALLE7

I also have LT scope mounts that are known to return to zero, but cost considerably more (for a reason). I read (here) that the Burris scope mounts are now made in China, this may/may not be true. I have several of the standard PEPR scope mounts that are solid, none are marked as Chinese, so this is maybe unfounded. They all appear well made, none are marked US either. Sorry that I cannot answer your question about the QD scope mounts returning to zero, I have to believe it will as it truly is a solid mount. HTH I have LaRue’s and ADM (which I like better than LaRue) and the levers on the Burris kind of look like an ADM but in reverse. Are the Burris levers adjustable for tension? I have a Burris QD PEPR. Yes, there’s a tiny little label on the bottom saying “made in china”. Wasn’t happy when I saw that. But, it’s a very solid scope mounts and functions properly. As far as returning to zero I’ve only re-mounted it once since original sight-in. It was about 1 and 1/2″ low-left. However, I originally sighted it with xm855 and the second session was with xm193, so I think that could be expected. This is with a Nikon ProStaff 4-12X mil-dot. So from my sample size of ONCE , it seems to hold zero pretty well. And yes the levers are adjustable for tension. All that said, I think I’d spend a few extra $ on the LaRue. chewbacca
